What is it?

Powometer is an Energy Monitoring programme that connects to various energy monitoring devices and downloads their data.
Once connected, it will continuously monitor your energy usage. This is where the magic begins:

    Once Connected, you can:
  • View your energy usage in real time.
  • Compare your energy usage to last week or last month.
  • Enter billing information and see what your next electricity bill might be.*
  • Setup different graphs to view your usage averages, peaks and lows.
  • View your carbon footprint.
  • You can import energy usage from other energy monitors such as DIYKyoto's Holmes.
  • If your energy monitor stopped working for a short period, you can recreate lost energy usage.
  • Connect online and view your energy usage online.**

In conjunction with MyEnergyUsage.org, you can connect Powometer to the internet.
Once you have connected, your usage automatically gets sent to the servers where it will be securely stored.
Having this available online allows you to do many things.

    Some of the features will allow you::
  • View your energy usage from anywhere with an internet connection
  • Compare your usage to other people.
  • Have more than one energy monitor (holiday home?) and allow you to compare them both.
  • Share your energy usage with friends via FaceBook.
  • View your usage using iGoogle or Vista gadgets.
  • Create your own applications to read your data into your website.

Here is the main screen of Powometer Energy Monitor with two graphs. You can have upto 6 graphs displaying at any one time.
Currently, only line graphs (shown) are supported. There are plans for Bar graphs as well as Pie charts. Infact, anything that makes sense could be added in.

Wattson Options Screen (Wattson Configuration):

This is the configuration screen for Powometer and Wattson.
Here you can import existing data from Holmes as well as configure the poll time for which Powometer Energy Monitor polls your Wattson Energy Monitor.
You can also change the currency displayed on Wattson as well as within Powometer Enery Monitor.

This screen allows you to setup your billing information. Powometer Energy Monitor will then show you how much it your next bill is likely to be.
It also allows you to upload that tariff to Wattson Energy Monitor which then alters the display on the unit to reflect the same.
You can also do what-if scenarios. This allows you to enter a tariff you are thinking of switching to and see how it will affect your bill.
This is a better option that trusting those "people" at the energy companies telling you how much better they are than the others.
